Saturday 26 March

Saturday 26 March: We left Petra for a 4WD trip through an area known as the Wadi Rum Desert, just my way of travel.  This area was used recently to film the movie The Martian and it is very interesting and a most unusual topography. Now it only rains once every 10 years in the Wadi Rum and guess what, it did this day.  Most  of us where sitting in the open back of a twin cab HiLux and we got drowned.   Still did not stop our appreciation of  the rugged and desolate beauty of this area.  We stopped at a Bedouin camp for morning tea but it was raining so heavily that their tent roof of goats hair was leaking so badly that it was as bad inside as outside.  The goat's hair roof will close up and be water proof in times of rain but as it was most likely 10 years since rain and it had only been raining for a few hours it was of no use. So we gave up and pushed on to the lunch stop. t stopped raining when we got to the Bedouin camp for lunch.  A traditional roast cooked in the ground for many hours.  At least we got photos that you can only take every 10 years. From here we drove to Aqaba to board our ship, nice to dry out and unpack after living out of suit case for 5 days.
Wadi Rum as it is only once every 10 years, just our luck
Just light rain

Not worries about seat belts

This was meant to be morning tea

I guess this dress helps prevent being effected by the smoke while making the bread

Still wet but now feeding so all is well

The scenery is spectacular but hard to capture
